I want to start  by congratulating the 2014/2015 Graduating set; you made the academic year a most rewarding one.

The 2013 UNESCO Report posited that about 57 Million children of school age in the world are presently out of school and 10.5 million of those children are in Nigeria alone.

According to USAID, there would be a 12 percent drop in global poverty if all students in low-income countries left school with basic reading skills.

The man of God – Rev Dr Chris Oyakhilome made a statement and I quote,

“We have a divine responsibility to God, to reach children in our inner cities. If we don’t reach them quickly and get them off the streets, if we don’t educate them…they will be the source of danger in fifteen[15]years time.”

Without education an individual’s meaningful participation in societal development and growth is diminished and highly impeded –Education is the way out of poverty.

This is why the InnerCity Mission for Children remains at the forefront of protecting the right to education for every child.

Most indigent children cannot afford to go to school and many who started are forced to drop out due to lack of funds. The InnerCity Mission School is a Charity School – it is a school that provides Quality Education to the indigent child absolutely free of charge because of the unwavering support of our donors and partners.

@ We provide free transportation to and from home.
@ We provide free meals – breakfast and lunch daily.
@ We provide uniform kits made up of school uniforms, sports uniforms, and ceremonial uniforms complete with school shoes and sports shoes.
@ We provide learning kits consisting of textbooks, workbooks, notebooks, school bag and stationery.
@ We provide free medicare no matter the diagnosis. Our pupils enjoy a child-friendly environment that is conducive to learning.
@ We have a rich extra-curricular program and our children participate in a variety of school clubs and enjoy different Play & Learn Initiatives such as the Boys Scout, the Football and Music Program.

We believe that the key to sustainable and lasting change to the issues that affect children living in poverty in inner cities is wrapped up in the Word of God and that change on the outside is preceded by change on the inside, therefore a change of mental attitude leads to a change in physical circumstances.

Thus our academic curriculum is a fine blend of the Nigerian and British Curriculum and the Word of God as believed and taught in the Believers LoveWorld aka Christ Embassy. This puts our children into a position that makes them drivers of and active participants in their own change.

And today as they graduate from our program, we know that they have achieved a measure of independence and are well on their way to living a life free of poverty.

I want to say a big thank you to our Institutional Partners – the Believers LoveWorld nation aka Christ Embassy, our Corporate Donors – Shell Nigeria Ltd, Cellulant Nigeria Ltd, GlaxoSmithKline Nigeria to mention but a few.

And to the man of God, Rev Dr Chris Oyakhilome, our Patron and Life Coach – thank you for making “Every Child Your Child”.

Thank you to all our parents, partners and invited guests here present, thank you for honouring us with your presence.

May God bless you!
